1.THE IDEA OF THE EXHIBITION:

The exhibition is part of the international exchange projects between Italia Arte, Museo MIIT Museo Internazionale Italia Arte and important foreign institutions operating at the highest levels in the Contemporary Art sector.

From 27 September to 12 October the MIIT Museum of Turin will host the international exhibition ‘Museums Exchange. New York-Turin’ at the same time as the major exhibition of New York artists from the Saphira & Ventura Gallery and ICAS International Contemporary Art Society in New York, with which a collaborative and interchangeable exhibition project and path has been developed for years, which will present a selection of about 50 works at the MIIT.

Two major exhibitions at the same time, then, to present artists from New York, the United States, Brazil, Europe and Italy in comparison and to seal a long and prestigious collaboration between the MIIT Museum and S&V Gallery and ICAS.

The exhibition represents an excellent opportunity for all the artists selected to start or strengthen a collaboration with the institutions of New York involved in the project through the periodic artistic-cultural exchanges curated by Italia Arte and Museo MIIT. The two New York institutions and the Italian partner Italia Arte-Museo MIIT have been operating on the international art market for many years between the United States, Brazil, Singapore, France, Italy and Europe.

The exhibition aims to present a selection of works and artists who, with their message, their style, their subjects, or through research and experimentation offer the best of contemporary Italian and foreign art.

The exhibition will be accompanied by a projection of contemporary works from the Collection of the Saphira & Ventura Gallery – ICAS and the MIIT Museum in a multivisual journey of great charm.

The event is organized in the framework of the Second European Year of Cultural Heritage organized by the European Community to which the MIIT Museum adheres with its exhibitions in 2019.

The event anticipates and precedes the one that the MIIT Museum will hold in New York at the Saphira & Ventura Gallery on 15-30 May 2020, on the occasion of the Frieze New York week (6-10 May 2020), when it will present a careful selection of its artists.

Another fundamental objective of the exhibition is to carry out an accurate selection and to provide an international visibility to all the artists involved in the museums, foundations, galleries, academies, Italian cultural institutions, consoled and abandoned in the world, with which Italia Arte has been collaborating for some time. Among all the artists participating in this edition, a rigorous selection of quality will be made by the Editorial Board of “Italia Arte” and by the Scientific Committee of the MIIT Museum and of the Sphira & Ventura Gallery – ICAS, composed of art historians and critics, journalists, publishers, professionals from the legal, economic and financial world and by the galleries involved and partners in the project.

The exhibition will allow the above mentioned institutions (targeted distribution points, where the monthly magazine “Italia Arte” is distributed) to know and evaluate the works on display and, subsequently, to request to “Italia Arte” exhibitions of the authors whose works may be exhibited in their prestigious locations.
